Resembling a sticker or label, the &#8220;TAGs&#8221; are available in a vast array of designs, shapes, and sizes to ensure the right fit for each intended use.<\/div>\r\n\t\t<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\t\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_h5-italic\">NFC is when RFID technology is used in conjunction with mobile phones.<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t<div class=\"col-md-4\">\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_h4big\">There are two main kinds of RFID TAGs<\/div>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_space_top15\"><strong>Passive TAGs<\/strong><br>These TAGs do not contain batteries as the power is supplied by the reader. They use the power generated from the magnetic field between the reader&#8217;s internal antenna and the TAG when they are in close proximity to each other (a few centimetres to a maximum of a few metres).<\/div>\t\r\n\t\t<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\r\n\t\t<div>This is how the TAG can send and store information, such as globally unique identifiers (GUID). Modern smartphones, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Samsung Galaxy Mini 2, already come with a built-in reader.<\/div>\t\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_space_top15\"><strong>Disadvantages of passive TAGs<\/strong><\/div>\t\r\n\t\t<ul class=\"gl_space_ul2\">\r\n\t\t\t<li class=\"gl_space_li\">limited to being read from only a few metres away<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li class=\"gl_space_li\">slow data transfer<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li class=\"gl_space_li\">operating temperature:<br>-25 \u00b0C to +85 \u00b0C<br>(-13 \u00b0F to +185 \u00b0F)<\/li>\t\t\r\n\t\t<\/ul>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_space_top15\"><strong>Advantages of passive TAGs<\/strong><\/div>\t\r\n\t\t<ul class=\"gl_space_ul2\">\r\n\t\t\t<li class=\"gl_space_li\">functions without a battery; has a long lifespan of twenty years or more<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li class=\"gl_space_li\">available in small sizes (some as small as a grain of rice)<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li class=\"gl_space_li\">offers various applications for consumer goods and other products<\/li>\t\t\r\n\t\t<\/ul>\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_space_top15\"><strong>Recommendation:<\/strong><br>The NTAG TAGs are writable, have enough space to save information on them, and can be programmed as read-only to protect the TAGs from unauthorised use and tampering of information.<\/div>\t\r\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\t<div class=\"col-md-4\">\r\n\t\t\r\n\t\r\n\t\t<div class=\"gl_space_top60\"><strong>Active TAGs<\/strong><br>An active TAG is an RFID TAG equipped with a battery that is used as a partial or complete source of power for the TAG&#8217;s circuitry and antenna. Some active TAGs contain replaceable batteries for years of use; others are sealed units.
