The CAN bus provides a variety of information concerning the engine and the vehicle, such as engine speed, current fuel consumption, speed, centrifugal forces, tyre air pressure, the status of warning lights (on/off) etc.
Every modern vehicle built after the year 2000 has a CAN bus. In addition, a CAN bus or comparable interface is often built into many special purpose vehicles (construction machinery, forklifts etc.).
Access and analysis of this data provides you with the opportunity to draw appropriate conclusions, and thereby reduce the costs of a fleet:
- Optimisation of servicing intervals
- Optimisation of the driver’s driving behaviour
- Early detection of technical problems
- etc.
The data provided by a CAN bus is different from manufacturer to manufacturer, and sometimes even from model to model.
To date, ENAiKOON has implemented CAN bus adjustments to vehicles of 14 different manufacturers.
Special case: Write access to the CAN bus:
It is technically possible to send data from a computer to the vehicle. For safety reasons, however, all ENAiKOON devices have only read access to the CAN bus.
